Lisa and I have been exploring tonight. We drove up and down some of the streets in downtown Juneau. It is a MINI SAN FRANCISCO with narrow up-hill side streets with cars parked all along one side making it almost impossible to stop and take any pictures. The houses are way cool, some old, some new, most have little if any yard, no places for parking and are placed one on top of another on every available inch of land. Two times around the Governor's Mansion street (Sarah's Former House) and decided it wasn't worth risking a ticket to stop for a picture. We found a part of Alaska we couldn't believe we've never seen. But then again our comfy little world involves the hotel, dental office and back to the hotel most weekends we are here.... "boring"
The first picture in the business district looking towards the docked cruise ships, three are in town today. Couldn't be in Juneau without RAIN and this view of city center shows it is coming. We felt a few sprinkles and smelled dinner cooking at the Twisted Fish. Delicious halibut for both of us.

Wow, I can see the ships in that first picture. Cool pics Deb. I was never in Juneau so I am loving it. Your description of the area is revealing and gives me a good idea of what Juneau is all about. The girls at work say this to me about you (She has fun every week doesn't she?) This is what I say--Deb knows how to live and knows her priorities. She has a home, dogs and husband and family to take care of, but she does manage it all well. And she works! Love ya, Brenda
ReplyDeleteHey Deb--was Twisted Fish as good as Twisted Mama's in Mazatlan?
ReplyDeleteThought of you several times yesterday at the street/antique fair--you would hve LOVED it!
Maybe we can find some next year in PA--what do you think, Bren??
Twisted Mamas'a was better but the halibut was tasty in Juneau.
ReplyDeleteYes, we will be able to find antiques and big houses in PA.
Can;t wait for July 2010.
OH yes, no worry....antiques and big houses and horse and buggies in Pa...we will find lots of antiques in Lancaster. NYC close by and the shore and corn on the cob and tomatoes off the vine with fresh crusty bread....pics of the glacier were fantastic Deb. Breathtaking! Di is keeping me busy with her blog. You guys are fun! Brenda
