In the Air Pics
Leaving SeaTac airport...I was able to snap a fast picture before the plane made a sharp turn to the right.
Getting closer to home. The sun was glowing on the water.
2nd posting of Art in the Park
Try this again. I tried something new - pictures to the right instead of centered and then I had a hard time adding my text. So here it is again with some descriptions.
POTATO ICE CREAM ANYONE? I didn't have any but it sure seems appropriate for Idaho.
The Julia Davis Park has the prettiest entrance- rose garden with water fountains. This was Di's favorite color and I love the way it photographed.
View of downtown Boise behind the rose garden.
Oh, the best sweet potato french fries were our snack for the day. Very yummy! Lost the picture but believe me they were worth photographing and eating. Plus it fills the "orange" category for the photography contest I am doing with another girlfriend...so will post it eventually.

And these are my favorites....COFFEE POT TOTEM POLES and GLASS TOTEM POLES...
I will be making some for our yard...and can already see and hear John's response to this junque he has to mow around!!! I probably have enough antiques glass already but feel a stop to OZARKS coming on soon.

Driving Home to Boise
Heading back to Idaho today. The fall colors are starting to show up.
Stopped for lunch in Brigham City. What a treat. The most delicious "home cooked" meal. I had roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy and corn on cob. The homemade rolls with raspberry butter could not of been better. We shared a piece of Fresh Peach Pie....YUMMY!

Thursday's Travels
I posted some of the day's pictures with the blog under each one. Temperature was in the 90's today and they are saying it is fall like weather here....I think they are crazy...it is more like summer to me than we have in Alaska! (it is 99 degrees in St. George)
First stop of the day was here. I really wish they would open one up in Anchorage but I wonder if the thrill of going to IKEA would be different... Actually, if they would just ship to my house I could be happy! Really hard to buy "carry-on" sizes but I managed a few things.
This mural on the antique store was worth a laugh and a picture. We stopped before driving in the store!!!! We saw several pieces of glassware and linens but I was the only one to buy anything and that was a little mailbox with a scale...different than I've seen before.
The traffic is unbelievably busy. We can hear trucks and cars zooming by on the interstate from our hotel room all night long. This section was at a stand still just because of some construction. We used the exit to find some more stores until the traffic was thinned out.

Wednesday's Adventures
Our morning started with a stop at the mall (Nordstrom's Rack) in the Sugar House District.
Pat got herself handcuffed here first thing...see Diana's blog...thevacationqueen.blogspot.com
Lunched at a Soup Kitchen and strolled through town-some antique and home decorating stores.
Then we decided to go to Park City, Utah for the afternoon and when I saw this building I thought of my hubby hard at work in Anchorage.
We rode a tram up for some awesome views.
I'd be able to "vacation" here or come back for the Sundance Film Festival....
Stopped at another Farmers Market, I love doing that. The Strawberries taste just like they are suppose to! We'll have peaches for snack tomorrow.
Had to call John to help me upload/download pictures from camera to computer AGAIN. I have over 200 pictures already...so more blogs and scrapbook layouts to come.

Tomorrow we are going to IKEA....could be a dangerous shopping experience or maybe that is a dangerous shipping experience...getting it to Alaska could be considered dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!

Driving to Salt Lake City
We left Boise at 8:30 this morning to drive to Salt Lake City. It's 350 miles of high desert and farmland. The song Home On The Range came to my mind several times...where the deer and the antelope play... We had dinner at this authentic hole in the wall restaurant. People were waiting in line outside and it was packed inside....eating some of the best Mole we've had.
Thinking of Heather....

Boise Market
Downtown was our destination on Saturday. A couple of streets are blocked from traffic and vendors are all set up with booths full of "goodies". We saw pottery, jewelry, photographs, iron garden art and some just picked today: flowers, veggies, eggs and berries and home made breads, jellies, and pasta with lots of people doing the same as us...walking and browsing...
My two favorite people watching the water babies......
Isn't this an unusual "pumpkin?" for sale but I really don't think she would of sold it. Great conversation piece on her table of honey bottles and cukes.
Of course I love the flowers and gourds. Yellow isn't my favorite color but these flowers are sure pretty.
