Thanksgiving Snowfall

This is the best of the worst pictures....I didn't remember to take pictures or I took terrible ones...had to be the wine. We enjoyed having Chris and Becky here for Thanksgiving this year.
They drove up in snowstorm, getting here on Thursday around noontime. The dogs were happy to see one another- amazing how well the four get along- Took this after dinner done and dessert in process along with us planning out our route for Black Friday Shopping. Stood in doorway of back porch and shot this view....sunshine was brighter than this shows. The foreground is the roof of Steve's house...
And this is our patio table- quite a bit in one snowfall. It is the heavy and wet stuff - PA snow - I always call it.
Same mountain tops but I shot it off to the left of Steve's house--the tree branches were loaded with the snow.
Other than these four...I will be deleting the dozen blurry pictures of US and the dogs.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY 2009

I've received this as an e-mail from a couple girlfriends---changed it a bit to fit me....hope it makes you giggle also....
TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING,
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP.
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.

THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED -THE STUFFING AND MEAT -ONLY THE WHITE,
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT.

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION,
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR,
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.

I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND GRAVY AND MASHED POTATOES BY THE POUND,
I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN,
I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.

I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY,
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF FROG EYE SALAD AND A HANDFUL OF PECAN PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES...
HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRY SAUCE, PLEASE.

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS. MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EACH AND EVERYONE

JEALOUS

I expect to walk through this door often!! It is where Wendi my hairdresser has moved her business to. It's off Potter and C Street -so very easy to get there from home or work. She does wonders with color and cuts- highly recommend you give her a call if in need of a new do.....

Cold weather still here- frigid- actually and it has warmed up to double digits and above zero....12 to 18 degrees. That grey dull look out there today which I really do not like- so I am inside doing some odd chores and packing for the Juneau work weekend- warm pj's, book, laptop and my uniforms- nothing fancy for Juneau!

I will be home Monday evening and getting ready for Thanksgiving Day- Chris and Becky will be coming up here! Good food and fun coming up.

Have a good weekend everyone-

Going Rogue

John came home from Sam's Club with my weekend reading material-and with this frigid weather I will be happy to crawl into the Juneau Hotel bed and read all about Sarah.

Pt. Woronzof Views

John and I packed our cameras and loaded the dogs in back of car and off we go... Drove down Elmore to the new Dowling Extension and across to Potter Drive. I was checking out the new location of my hair dresser before my appointment tomorrow morning. Katie was so happy to be going someplace other than the Vet's ....I bet they are saying Let US OUT OF HERE.
Ended up at Earthquake Park and Pt. Woronzof Park for some pictures. It was COLD so these are the only pictures I took....and we left the dogs in the whole time. Saw a couple of nests and one Eagle flying above the coastline.
Alaska Airline had a plane take off and fly over head...We didn't take a picture but after it was way out we said that we should of- the under side of the plane would of filled the whole picture.
Looking toward downtown Anchorage.
Several cars were parked here also, people were reading the newspaper, looking at the view, eating lunch or warming up. It surprised me how many were there doing their thing-nothing?
Glad we ventured out today- next time I will have mittens and hat with me!

Windy Weather

The view out living room window Thursday around noontime. Very windy and I put off going to store as long as I could. Very cozy in the recliner wrapped in soft, warm afghan watching the Today Show and then Hoda and Kathie Lee. Figured out I am not missing much on TV when I am at work days!

President Obama stopped at Elmendorf to fill up Air Force One's gas tank. The weather actually cleared up and was beautiful for his first visit. Nothing is prettier than fresh snow up there on the hillside! Wish it would stay up there and we'd have dry roads in town. The usual first snow and drivers without studded tires....

Snowfall and Sunset

It started snowing on Sunday and the dogs love being outside in it.On my way home from work I noticed the sky... and it was gorgeous. Parked in the Church parking lot at Lake Otis and Abbott Road and snapped two quick pictures.
It was cold and windy but worth it for this.

Pet Stop

On the way to Katie's final check up appointment Saturday morning we stopped at the credit union drive through and this is the view as we left the parking lot. Katie is healing fast and well. There is still has a hole in her suture line that we need to put Iodine in and Neosporin around, but getting back to her old self daily. She finally took the treats from Doc Christine today! This mailbox caught my eye....bet it will be a thing of the past before long.
Had a great weekend with Becky. We worked on a photo-
graphy project for their living room, did some shopping at Pier One and Michaels and then had lunch at Gallo's. She's headed back home -fighting off a sore throat and achy body- and I'm doing laundry and watching these snowflakes look like they mean business this time....

Apple Butter...Yum

I participated in the ACBailey online scrapbooking Midnite Madness Challenge Saturday night. The team posted a word throughout the evening and we were suppose to make our layout using that word. I waited long enough to start that all the words were posted ...much easier for me. But the best part is the first word was APPLE and .... I could not of planned my layout any better than this one. Natalie send my birthday package and I opened it immediately, on Saturday... early, of course! She included a jar of her homemade apple butter- which is YUMMY. Thanks so much for my gifts-you packed that box pretty full! And the second layout needed to be about leaves. Fortunately, we actually had some vibrant colors in Anchorage this year. The red berries and yellow leaves of the Mountain Ash highlight how beautiful our autumn really was.
So you get a preview of my "night owl" work before it goes in an album.

Free Digital Stamp Set

I just saw this on my friend Michelle's blog and HAD to post it also. She found it this morning on the ACBailey scrapbooking site and we both agree -even if it isn't October this is still important. A special "thinking of you , Joey". Take care and sending you another hug.
(Brenda- why does this make me think of Mexico?

November 1st Already

WOW...we survived all the door bell ringing and I handed out the goodies last night. Both dogs wanted to greet each "costume' but no way Katie could get that excited. The vet called and said everything was removed and all will be okay for Katie. It is the kind of cancer that can return so we have to be good about checking for bumps. She is still on the pain meds so lots of sleeping and her stitches come out on Wednesday. She's one lucky dog.

Spending today in front of the TV....football and more football....so glad I have a laptop. Which reminds me, I started another daily project today- taking a picture of something that represents me, the day, life, whatever and putting it in an album ...well two albums actually...Picassa and a scrapbook album with a little journaling. Most start this on January 1st but I decided to start it today so I'm into the routine by the new year. Shouldn't be that hard!

We are starting this month out like I really like ...No Snow in Anchorage. It is clear and cold but we still have Green Grass!
