Moose Tracks?

I've seen these ice chunks the past few days as I drive down Elmore. Any idea what caused them to form like this?

Based on three opinions, (John, Gene and Vicki's- as we drove past on way TO the Spring Fling)
it has been decided that they are from moose walking across the ice... sounds reasonable to me!

"And the Member Of The Year Is...

John Scudder" ..... Gary presented him with a plaque on behalf of the Anchorage Snowmobile Club. The Spring Fling was held at Platinum Jaxx and we had a great dinner and a fun evening!
Of course, I am biased but he gives 1505 to the sport and I am glad that was recognized :)

Happy Birthday Becky

So glad they came into town to celebrate Becky's birthday...we had Moose's Tooth Pizza and Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake....yum! Only three candles on her cake ( each one represents 10 years.) As is the tradition with her DQ cakes, we let it sit on counter too long and it starts to melt before she cuts it- this time was no different!
Happy Birthday!

UAA lunch with Vicki

My Favorite....Candy Apple Mousse....Delicious On the way in we saw FLOWERS and then took pictures as we walked back to the car.
Dessert Buffet Printed Menu...
Oh what a wonderful thing to see today...
Our waiter took our picture...we wanted the cute little desserts to be center of attention!
The UAA culinary students prepare and serve a gourmet lunch...
This is my main course...salmon, mashed potatoes and asparagus....It was yummy.
Pictures are not in any order... This is the dessert table... even the masks are made from chocolate.
And then it is 10:25 and there still BLUE sky showing.....it has been a good weather day here -finally- temps in the mid 40's, sunshine, clear blue skies and just what I have been waiting for~!
These two are blurry but you can see what it looked like at 10:25 tonight off the back deck!
Chris and Becky are coming up tomorrow and we will celebrate her 30th birthday
by going to dinner and visiting. It's been a while since we've been together so looking forward to the"party". I will try to remember to use my camera!

Snowed on April 22nd !!!

About noon it started raining and within an hour it was snowing....big huge wet flakes-someone called it cotton coming down-I said it was *@%$#@SNOWING--- It lasted about three hours and was slushy, wet and a mess before the sun came out to really melt it.Only good thing about it being Thursday was the Adopt-A- Park had a meeting regarding our summer flowers. We can pick them up on June 3rd ready to plant in the Winchester Park flower bed. After the meeting, we walked through the tropical greenhouse. Here's some green- - I did not crop or change any of the pictures-

The greenhouse is open ALL winter and I think it is some place I will try to visit more often- makes me feel "good" being in there with the birds and plants and fish---especially on these snowy days.

John's Views

Denali in the background. Group stopped in the Petersville area - probably 30 miles away to enjoy the beautiful weather and lunch. Joe at Hurricane Gulch with a panoramic view of the mountains.

Mother Nature

Must HATE Me....woke up to more snow falling this morning and it has continued ALL day. We have about four inches so far and additional 1-3 more inches predicted. I just heard the Spring Snowstorm Advisory is extended to continue until 8 tonight and the studded tire removal has been extended. Everything that was down to bare is covered again in this new snow. Thankfully the roads are melting it fast and not accumulating there. It is suppose to be 42 degrees for the rest of the week so it will be sloppy, slushy and hopefully OVER.
Some tend to LOVE this cold stuff....Katie couldn't wait to bury her face and make her own path in the snow and Chena came in with snow balls stuck to her belly from running and jumping in the yard...but she found her duck someplace out there...now she is happy to lay on deck!I tried to get the snowflakes as they are coming down- as they are the big, fluffy kind- pretty even if I would rather not admit that.
Pine tree in the front yard seems to be storing snow among the branches...I opened the blinds to take the pictures and left them open- it is bright and a winter wonderland in mid-April!

And that is not what mid April is suppose to be like....I am so ready for green grass, flowers and RVing!

Scrapbooking for a cure, one photo at a time.

Crop for Cancer is an organized Relay Team for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event. This unique event is organized by a small group of Alaska Women with the common purpose to increase the awareness and support for individuals affected by cancer though out Alaska. This is the first time I've attended Crop for Cancer, a 12- hour scrap booking marathon held at Conoco Phillips Atrium on Saturday, April 10, 2010. Since this is the annual fund raising event, I am registered under the team of Michelle Pokorny. If you would like to support my efforts by making a pledge on-line, go to anchoragerelay.org click search for participant, (Michelle Pokorny) and you will be able to complete your donation. Together we can have the power to help create a world where cancer can no longer claim another year of anyone's life.I will have lots to share and I will post my pictures after the Crop for Cancer on Saturday.

April Snow Showers

Trying to see the beauty in today...concentrating on the Easter Tulips inside...Since this is what we woke up to this morning...a dusting of fresh snow this morning....
I can't believe it still bugs me to get snow in April...happens every year and it doesn't last but come on....I am more than ready for spring....everyplace else is having summer already!
Taken right out the dining room window... kinda neat how the snow stuck to the fence boards.

Found our Easter pictures....

Okay, I found the Easter pictures and they bring smiles to my face as I look at them. No dates but it is two different years I'd guess by our dresses....aren't we just the cutest trio? This picture was taken on the same day as the family one.

Here I am....with the Easter bonnet, white gloves and unbrella shaped pocketbook I remembered! ....but look at the back yard....the shed...oh, how I wished I had some of that good ole lumber and that "junque" we threw in there now.....our swing sets, tv antenna and Dad's car

Same day Natalie and me.... look at that rolling hill!!!!!

Grandpa Charlie, Grandma Velma, Mom and Dad probably before or right after walking down to the church

Happy Easter

Hello Peeps!
Easter Morning and the sun is starting to shine today---Hooray!
Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous here so I hope that the good weather continues. The roads are clear of snow so finally able to get out and walk around the neighborhood-dogs get very dirty still! Rooftops are almost bare- the eaves have dripped constantly last couple of days-so there is hope for warmth again!
No pictures this posting...I had hopes of digging out some pictures of Easter past....but didn't get that done....I specifically wanted the one of Natalie and me in our Easter dresses-Easter bonnet and white gloves -may have to look for that today and post ....it is precious! Nat---Remember the umbrella shaped pocketbook?
We are having a lite dinner today but that has to include ham...actually we want the ham sandwiches the most!
Miss you all especially on Holidays....Happy Easter to everyone!
