FINALLY I POSTED....
Friday at noon Vicki and I left home to go to Talkeetna for a stamp retreat. We made a stop at Betty's Stamp Attic (right on our way! haha) and then really headed north. It was a beautiful blue day with sparkly white snow and frosty trees. Some pictures out of her car window along the Glenn Highway.
low layer of fog over the Knik River Bridge
and then from Willow to Talkeetna this was in our view....absolutely breathtaking...
actually got out of the car and crossed the road to take this picture. It was -3 Brrrrr
We arrived at 5 pm. Just a short drive from Anchorage but we drove like the mailman.....
Here at Susitna River Lodge with 9 ladies for the weekend. We stamped last night until 2:30 then did a hand dip waxing - that feels good. Right back up and at it this morning by 9:30...

Tired Of Waiting For Me
I've sat at the computer all evening sorting and editing all the pictures John and I took. We've been downtown twice and took pictures of the ice sculptures. He likes the rapid sequence button-so there are plenty of similar ones to look and and delete! I like the quality of his pictures much more than mine- and I've been happy with my camera all along. Anyway, Katie and Chena decided they were house bound tonight and curled up at my feet...and I thought it was sweet. I will post the pictures this weekend in Juneau probably.

Another Christmas Layout
The second challenge was to make a layout about our favorite Christmas movie. I chose to do the line "Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store, Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!" from the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. The Nativity is the only one we have ever had-John and I bought it the first Christmas we were in Alaska, from Pay-N-Pak----remember that store?
The first picture is the one I did that evening, but I was not really satisfied with it... so I worked on it some more...picture number 2 shows the embellishments that I added... What a difference nine stars make...now I am happy with this layout!

Here is a close up of the stars, I used glitter, background papers, shimmer paints and a new technique-CRACKLE PAINT- I can't believe it took me this long to try it on chipboard ---how many years have I been buying antique pieces because of the crackle paint?? This is one technique I will be using over and over!

1st Scrapbook Layout of the Year
I spent Saturday evening in Eagle River with a wonderful group of ladies scrapping some layouts. We were emailed a list of six challenges and took the supplies to do the layouts together. Number 1 was to use our Christmas cards in a layout...I cut out the words, made packages and embellishments from several card fronts...this was so much fun I've decided to do another complimentary layout with more of our cards. Number 2 challenge posted next time!

3:00pm on 01-01-10
What a difference in a day. Just took this picture out the back door towards the mountains that I can not see. The green pine trees are about the only color - everything is white or grey and so different than yesterday!Very quiet outside today-few cars driving down street and no one is walking....
Trees in our corner of the back yard- notice the frosty branches?
We cheered in the New Year at the Gerken's with the Backyard Bunch- the guys set off some fireworks and the surrounding neighborhoods had plenty of displays, had some bubbly and played polish poker for the first time....a new card game that is super simple- just what we needed so all eight of us could keep on talking and talking and laughing at the same time! Crawled into bed at 3:30 and slept for 10 hours! Just had my bowl of cereal, checked emails, and put a pork roast in the oven...thinking I should wake John and the dogs up now or their bedtime will be so off schedule. So today is really January 1, 2010- WOW- Happy New Year!
