I'm in Idaho...

...and had to take care of some toe business first thing...Gonna be in sandals for the next two weeks and needed new color!

It was such a very fast decision to leave Anchorage, but I managed to do it! Pat called me at 9:30am Monday to see if I could leave earlier than the 10th...She flew up to get me and never left the airport...I met her there at 8:30 pm. We arrived in Boise Tuesday morning...took a long nap...had Dave and Di over for dinner and I really SURPRISED her. She was SPEECHLESS and that hardly ever happens! We've all been visiting and I am really enjoying Kelley's home-grown sweet corn. The nectarines and tomatoes are ripe and Pat's sunflowers and roses are blooming.

Shopped in several stores today but the highlights were Archivers~scrapbookers dream (but no Welcome Stamp), Macy's for some great Labor Day discounts and lunch at Olive Garden. We think we need some different places to explore....so we are in the process of planning a mini-roadtrip.............. stay-tuned.............

Owl Watching Us

John and I walked the dogs Saturday night before going to bed and we saw this owl. These picures are not the best but he was right behind us in the tree top. John took a few pictures without the flash and then some with flash and he did not like that at all. His head twirled around and his beady eyes followed us. As we walked back to camp he flew right over our heads and into another tree.

So we saw salmon, owl, bats and bear on this camping trip. Even a black bear crossed the road as we were driving by Quartz Creek....which I didn't mind at all....fel much safer in the rv instead of standing on same creek bed with them. Had lots of fun and will plan to go back next year

Camping

Some of our pictures from the weekend at Russian River in no particular order.
This doesn't need any explanation except it wasn't enough to keep the little black bugs away. I am fascinated with Old Man's Beard hanging in the trees.

Rainbow and then a Double Rainbow came out on Saturday evening as we were playing a game of Yahtzee.
Becky, Chris and John "pose" for me as we are walking along the boardwalk.

Russian River Bears

On our Saturday stroll we saw....two brown bear eating on salmon. People were close-by fishing and photographing but it was a bit uncomfortable for me. This one was in a cove across the river
Watching him go under, grab a fish and shake it was interesting but I knew it would only take a bounce or two across the water and we'd be his dinner. As we are leaving we're walking along the boardwalk and we see this one right along the shore. I guess he was within 15 feet - too close whatever length it was. This is the first time I've seen brown bear this close and it is okay with me if it is the last .
