Hershey, Pa

We spent a few days at Brenda's house and toured her area. I loved the licorice sticks around the plants.
Had a great martini and dinner at Hotel Hershey...maybe that is why this picture is blurry...
Toured Chocolate World-loved the cows as much as Sophia does!
Dinner outside on the deck at Hotel Hershey.
Cuties outside Chocolate World....kisses are still my favorite chocolate!
We had so much fun---but we did not ride any roller coasters! Maybe another time!

Things we did in Corning, New York

Samantha's Birthday ... July 1st...Gifts at home after dinner where they sat her on a saddle and sang to her!
We had a good time..service was terribly slow but we visited, laughed and celebrated her birthday in style!

Another day we went to Market Street shops and found the Market Street Brewing Company....."We brew it...We drink it"....is the motto of the only micro brewery in Corning and we had dinner there. The Blackberry lager was the favorite choice.
We sat up outside on the deck...right behind the tree! Miss Brenda waiting for our table to be readied. We tuckered her out with all the walking today. Lunch at the pizza place and walked Market Street for the The Hot Glass Studio and the Rockwell Museum.....which was not the Norman Rockwell Museum but museum on Western Art!!!! Surprising it was still interesting!
Corning Museum of Glass is the world's largest glass museum. We toured and watched a glass blowing demonstration. I saw another Steuben frog like I received as a wedding gift and was surprised to see that most of the glass for sale in the store was not made in Corning (SAD)
Front row seating to watch Mr. GlassBlower make a pretty bowl- that they gave away! None of us won it though.
Ended the day with a grocery stop at Wegmans...groceries for the slow country boil meal we had at Natalie's...another blog coming up on that!

All in a days Work

Flowers are in full bloom or past their prime in my yard so I spend most the rainy day being a gardener!
My hostas "never get flowers"....that is what I told Natalie when hers where blooming....
And I re-stacked the wood pile along the new fence John built when I was in Pa. Natalie-- notice the barn birdhouse? It is the one your FIL made for me years ago and now John thought this was the perfect place for it!
And then I moved motor home back to the driveway...it is so yellow where she sat for a month.
Getting things caught up around here- between raindrops mostly- glad I have this time off to be outside during the day hours and not cram it all in evenings or on the weekend. Small thing but makes me happy!

Woodhall Races

You will need to look at these from ending to beginning since I posted them backwards...

The fog rolled in and put a stop to the evening- it messed up the electronic programing of the fireworks. They even called the racing off after attempting to lift the fog with the faster cars going around the track a few times....It had worked that way before but not his time. We sat "under" the fireworks...it was an incredible show for awhile....almost front row seating...
Brandon ( Stephanie's boyfriend) was the reason we even went to the races- he did good and had a chance to sit with us for the firework display. His car is this white one leaving the track.
Loud motors and mufflers, dirt track and fans full of anticipation---racing is a sport with lots of followers...Woodhall has been the place to go to watch and to race for years. The place was packed-we sat on blankets in the grass beside these bleachers...and had a really good time!

More Wellsboro Pictures

I deleted this picture in the other posting...fast fingers.....so went back into add it.
We had a good visit-lots of catching up with Uncle Vic and Jean- and a good drink that we bought several other times!

More Wellsboro Pictures

Anyone know the name of this plant? It's planted by the fountain on the Green and we are all stumped- never saw this type before and have no idea what it is....help???
(this picture has been re-added on another posting- deleted here by mistake)
We enjoyed a visit with Uncle Vic and Aunt Jean...she took our picture...So glad we had this chance to see them. I was able to find the Pennsylvania Game News magazine that has an article on birch oil stills. Grandpa Dee Cloos and his still in Middlebury Center is mentioned. We all remember the birch smells.

The Diner is another landmark in town. On the corner of Main Street and East Avenue- across from the church. It is a porcelain diner car made in the early 1900's and placed here in 1939. There was an outdoor market in the parking lot with melons, berries, flowers and a barefoot salesman...(my kinda foot wear!)
The Penn Wells Hotel has always been on Main Street...looks the same-charming and vintage- Love the gaslights
Went to The Green at Dusk....pictures are so-so but I still LOVE this place. I try to get a souvenir of "Wynken, Blynken and Nod" every time I am in Wellsboro -
Dorothy and I had lunch at The Native Bagel so Lizz could be our waitress. Another day Diana, Brenda, Dorothy and I had ice cream sundaes and still another day Natalie, Lizz, Diana, Brenda and me had lunch at Timeless Destinations before we shopped at The Farmer's Daughters, Shabby Rue and the Antique Station. Think Wellsboro was a hit!

The month of June and July has been a blur with activities but now that I am back in Anchorage, I plan to catch up with the pictures and blogging notes. It is my way to share with you just how wonderful my Pennsylvania family and friends vacation was.
Hopefully by spending a little bit each day at the computer, I will figure out how to blog on the Mac as easily as I did on the PC. Here goes---pictures are my first have to learn how to do---be back soon with that "mastered"
haha!!
